She quickly fell in love with the people, food, and culture, but recent times have been beyond difficult for the people of Haiti.
Determined to help lift local women out of poverty, Sarah launched a cooperative that is now the 2nd largest employer in the region. Her organization helps women and girls with healthcare, scholarships, and employment.
But really it gives them hope.
Even after Sarahβs passing last year, the handcrafted nightgown she inspired continues making a difference.

Get To Know Maker Sarah HackettSarah Hackett spent years caring for people as a nurse before retiring and falling in love with Haiti and its people. She lived part-time in Haiti for 28 years and dedicated her final years to doing everything she could for Haitian women. With 14 grandchildren, Sarahβs legacy of giving lives on as do the handmade nightgowns she was so proud of. |
