Hey there, Don't take advice from anyone who discourages any form of "dieting" because "95% of diets fail." They don't know what they're talking about. Taken collectively, most dieters fail, but that's mostly because they go about it the wrong way. Ignore people who say that counting calories will give you an eating disorder, too. That’s like saying drinking alcohol will make you an alcoholic. “Can, but probably won’t”—FTFY. And speaking of counting calories, when you hear someone claim they’ve been in a calorie deficit for two years and haven’t lost weight, just remember they’re someone who hasn’t actually been in a calorie deficit for two years now. The same goes for people who say that cutting calories never helped them lose weight but eating less sugar or carbohydrate did the trick. Unbeknownst to them, they finally found a workable method of cutting calories to lose weight. I guess what I’m trying to say is don’t let people complexify your diet. Don’t follow their frantic and futile attempts to flee the cold light of day. Don’t force yourself to learn the lesson that while you can ignore reality (energy balance, macronutrient balance, food choices, etc.), you can’t ignore the consequences of ignoring reality.
