ONLY THE STRONG SURVIVE High-Performance Lifestyle Training (HPLT) is Ten Thousand Captain Brian Mazza’s series of semi-annual fitness retreats. 40+ athletes from a wide-variety of backgrounds come together to test their mettle and compete in a series of rigorous HIIT workouts, learn modern recovery techniques, and join discussions with fitness leaders from across the country. This past weekend was HPLT's first time back in NYC where the very first retreat was hosted — and they immediately hit the ground running. Buses departed Friday at 4:30 AM sharp for Fort Tilden Beach where everyone participated in a SEAL-inspired "Hell Week" workout full of bear crawls and fireman carries through the sand, plus cold water drills in the surf where the temperature was in the high forties. The next day, our Ten Thousand team pulled together a challenge that consisted of 2,475m on a treadmill, row machine, assault bike, and ski machine, finished with 100 burpees for a final total of 10,000 meters. |
