On August 6th, Ten Thousand athletes, Kaj Larsen and Jake Thomas, were joined by fellow Navy SEALS in a swim across the Hudson River to help raise funds for GI GO - an organization that supports veterans in need. This grueling challenge invited participants to battle the currents in honor our fallen veterans, their families, and the victims of 9/11.

Along the route, the SEALs stopped at the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island to perform 100 push-ups and 22 pull-ups in remembrance of the 22 veterans who commit suicide every day. The event concluded in lower Manhattan to celebrate all those who paid the ultimate sacrifice for our country in the wars that followed.

“THE IDEA CAME FROM TRYING TO MEMORIALIZE FALLEN COMRADES AND CIVILIANS BEYOND THE SCOPE OF A ‘NORMAL’ EVENT’S COMFORT ZONE. THE HUDSON RIVER IS THE PERFECT PLACE FOR SUCH A THING. THE SWIM IS MEANT TO BE TOUGH. WE PURPOSEFULLY INDUCE STRUGGLE TO BEST PAY A SMALL HOMAGE TO THOSE WHO MADE THE ULTIMATE SACRIFICE FOR OUR COLLECTIVE BETTERMENT.”
