BETTER THAN YESTERDAY Born and raised against the rugged landscape and sweeping vistas of Montana, Alex Fichtler wanted to be a Navy SEAL his entire life. This lofty goal took discipline and courage to achieve, but getting there was just the beginning. Throughout the course of his career, he was deployed all around the world, including in Afghanistan and Africa. Today, Alex continues to apply his skills and fitness, serving as a consultant in the private security industry, and as a trainer for backcountry and tactical athletes. Alex’s occupation required him to be brutally honest with himself. To effectively carry out his objectives, he had to be constantly improving his skills and ensuring he was over prepared for anything that might come his way. “Everything about being a SEAL hinges on being better than you were yesterday.” He believes that setting the bar high and seeking out new challenges is the key to success, both in life and in fitness. Upholding that standard allows him to stay on track toward his main motivation: “I want to wake up every day and say ‘I’m happy with my life’ - and I think that really is optimized when you figure out what you’re made of.” |
