1. He was born during a lightning storm (because of course he was š) During his birth, the midwife announced the lightning to be a bad omen, declaring the child to be of darkness. Not believing the midwife, his mother replied: āNo. He will be a child of light.ā Score one for Mom! 2. He developed the idea for smartphone technology way back in 1901 In 1901, Tesla described to J.P. Morgan his vision of instant communication that would involve encoding telegram messages and other information to a device that would fit in your hand. 3. He loved to dress up (like EVERY day) Tesla had a distinct sense of style, believing one's appearance should reflect success. He was known for his impeccable dress sense, donning white gloves every night at dinner and considering himself a "dapper dresser." Well, now I feel bad that Iāve been wearing sweatpants all day. š³ 4. He had a photographic memory Tesla was known to memorize books and images with ease. He often used this special talent to stockpile visions for inventions in his head. Itās even said he had a powerful imagination with the ability to visualize in three dimensions! 5. He once built an āEarthquake Machineā (and used it on Mark Twain) Tesla's high-frequency oscillator was known to shake violently. Mark Twain, who had digestive problems, was invited over to the lab and instructed to stand on the platform while Tesla turned on the oscillator ā after which Twain jumped off the platform and ran for the restroom!
